7 Tips for Using the Samsung Keyboard Better

Here are 7 tips you need to know to make a better use of the Samsung keyboard. Discover the features that allow you to customize the keyboard of your Samsung Smartphone.

1. Resize Samsung Keyboard

Samsung phones allow you to increase or decrease the size of the keyboard. To do this:

Go to your smartphone Settings,
Select Global Management, then Samsung Keyboard Settings,
Click Size and Transparency to adjust the keyboard size.
Shortcuts also let you adjust the size of the keyboard manually. To do so, click the gear icon, then select Size and Transparency. You then have the option to select the size of your keyboard using the blue handles positioned at each corner.

2. Adjust or disable the toolbar

The toolbar lets you access emoji, voice control, or even a search tool for emoji or stickers. By clicking on the three dots you access all the available tools.

To select 6 tools to be automatically highlighted in the toolbar, simply press and hold the tool and place it on the bar by dragging it.

As you type, the toolbar disappears to show suggestions from your Samsung smartphone. If you just want to stop seeing this toolbar:

Go to your smartphone Settings,
Select Global Management, then Samsung Keyboard Settings,
Disable Keyboard Toolbar.

Once these manipulations are executed, the shortcuts originally available via this toolbar will be accessible by long pressing the comma key.

3. Change Samsung Keyboard Layout

On the one hand, you have the possibility to choose the type of keyboard you use. Samsung users have a choice between options: Azerty, Azerty with accent, Qwerty, Qwertz and 3 x 4. To access these options:

Go to settings,
Select Global Management, then Samsung Keyboard Settings,
Click Languages and types, select the language of your choice to change the keyboard type.
On the other hand, in Samsung Keyboard Settings, scroll down and select Layout. This section allows you to choose whether you want to enable Numeric Keys and Alternate Characters. It is also possible to select the line spacing style.

4. Create Text Shortcut

A feature available in the settings of your Samsung phone, allows you to define a text shortcut. This involves pairing short text with longer phrases, which is especially useful if information is given repeatedly.

For example, it's possible to associate the term "email" with your full email address. By creating this shortcut on your smartphone, your full email address will automatically appear in suggestions when you type "email" in a text.

To define a text shortcut:

Go to settings,
Select Global Management, then Samsung Keyboard Settings,
Click Text Shortcut,
Tap the "+" sign to add a shortcut.

5. Use the right emoji easily

Would you like emojis to be automatically offered in your suggestions? Just enable this feature in Samsung keyboard settings. Therefore :

Go to settings,
Select Global Management, then Samsung Keyboard Settings,
Enable the Predictive Text option to use the Emoji Suggestion feature.

6. Change Samsung Keyboard Color

The function to give your keyboard more contrast is available on your Samsung. To get there:

Go to settings,
Select Global Management, then Samsung Keyboard Settings,
Click on High Contrast Keyboard,
Enable option.

You then have a choice between different types of contrast: black letters on a yellow keyboard, white letters on a black keyboard, yellow letters on a black keyboard and white letters on a blue keyboard.

7. Change quick access symbol

A long press on the period key (“.”) gives you access to shortcuts for certain symbols and punctuation marks. You have the option to choose the symbols that will appear in this section. Therefore :
